Information for Art Collectors

LIMITED ISSUE PRINTS (LIPs)

Tipstapunk publishes limited issue prints from his Stored Images home studio in the UK, and has access to a near 20-year portfolio of digital works.

Moving into his first studio in 2007 and working continually since, Tipstapunk often went from one idea to another without thinking about marketing or sales, which meant that few of his digital works ever got published, and fewer still ended up in the hands of collectors.

This new website - Tipstapunk.com - hopes to put matters right and enable collectors to acquire works in a way that is unique, via prints that are published (issued) to demand, but only to a maximum of one print per month for each digital image in the portfolio. This means that no image can be published more than 12 times per year.

Each print is identified by the artist’s signature and month/year of publication on the front, and by two studio stamps on the verso. The first studio stamp is an image of a greyhound - a foundational icon of Tipstapunk’s art practice. The second stamp is of a pair of red lips, based on an acronym of Limited Issue Prints (LIPs).

Limited Issue Prints = Bespoke Print Publishing.

Each month the portfolio is accessed and a fresh batch of digital images is published, and it’s collector demand that decides what makes it into print and in what format. One collector might want a 50×50cm paper version of Win-Lose-1, while another might want a 100×100cm version on canvas. Both requests can be accommodated, but never on the same month/year.

Limited Issue Prints are a paced, flexible alternative to the two traditional art publishing methods of tight limited editions and no-cap open editions.
