For 25 years Tipstapunk provided race data and wrote a daily horse racing column for top UK website At The Races, and during this time also worked out of a series of art studios in Wolverhampton (UK). The bringing together of Tipstapunk’s two main passions - art and racing - has led to an avalanche of images and continues to generate ideas for the main theme of his art practice - The Gamble of Life.

During his teenage years and early 20s, Tipstapunk also attended many greyhound tracks, including Wolverhampton, Wimbledon and the mighty White City. It was at one of these meetings, on a cold, dark night, that he had an epiphany. He saw clearly that his life would be bound up in the bright lights of the track and multi-colored tote board, and that the number and color code of greyhound racing - and later American horseracing - would also play a big part in all things going forward.

After all, can’t it be said that every greyhound and horse race is a metaphor for the gamble of life? An insight that you can see echo through many of his photo-digital and contemporary Pop Art works.

Tipstapunk also helped launch two artist-led galleries during his time in Wolverhampton, and was featured with his work on BBC’s Flog It! programme.
